A video of a drone attack in Russia has rapidly spread online, leaving many shocked and drawing comparisons to the September 11 attacks in the United States.
Amid the ongoing conflict between
Russia and Ukraine, Ukraine has carried out its most significant drone attack to date, targeting the Volga Sky, the tallest building in Saratov, Russia. The drone strike occurred early in the morning, marking a significant escalation in the conflict.
According to Russia's defence ministry, nine drones were intercepted and destroyed over the Saratov region, which is approximately 900 kilometres (560 miles) from the Ukrainian border.
Despite these defensive measures, falling debris from the intercepted drones caused damage to a residential complex in Saratov, as reported by regional governor Roman Basurgin on Telegram.
The drone attack led to significant disruptions, including damage to homes and restrictions on flights in the Saratov region. Russian officials and news agencies confirmed that a woman was also injured in the attack.
Russia's RIA news agency reported that, according to the airport's press service, flight operations at Saratov's regional airport were restricted.
